Why? (9 AM)

The parable of the persistent widow, also called the parable of the unjust judge immediately begins with a bias on behalf of the widow and against the judge. What biases are implicit in our daily living? What assumptions do we bring to the practice of prayer? And what questions aren't we asking that might help us better understand certain people and specific situations? Join us as we consider how a faithful reading of Scripture and the practice of prayer may not always yield immediate "answers," but they do change us.

    Series Information

Jesus was a master storyteller. He knew just how to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. And though life in first-century Palestine was very different from life today, many traditional interpretations of Jesus’ stories fail to honor that reality. Join us as we discover Jesus’ short stories, or parables, anew and delve into what they might mean for our lives today.
