The Administrative Council of Community United Methodist Church has decided to partner with the Minnesota Council of Churches to hold a congregation-wide Respectful Conversation around beliefs pertaining to human sexuality (specifically, LGBTQIA+ -related matters) and our local church’s future. The goals for this Respectful Conversation are twofold: listening to one another for the purpose of gaining understanding and talking about our similar and differing beliefs in a way that stitches us together rather than tears us apart. To be clear, there will be no official stance taken or decisions made on behalf of the church about human sexuality at this Respectful Conversation. Instead, it will be an opportunity for us to hear one another’s hearts and better understand each other’s viewpoints. By proactively discussing this subject matter, Community United Methodist Church will be better prepared for any and all LGBTQIA+-related decisions made at General Conference 2020 in May. Please join us!
