The Story: Crossing the Red Sea - Exodus 5-15
Main Point: There is nothing to fear in life because when we cry out to God, God responds.
I Wonder Statement: I wonder when God has responded to your cries and helped you be brave...
Discussion:
- What is a time you cried out to God and God responded?
- When have you acted with bravery?
- What is the brave act you will do this week?
Interesting Facts about the Red Sea to share with kiddos:
- The Red Sea gets its name from an algae which turns blue-green water to reddish-brown.
- Almost no rivers run into the Red Sea. As a result, it has more salt and is clearer than most other seas.
- The Red Sea is home to more than 1,200 species of fish (17% of which are only found inside the Red Sea). There are also 40 different species of sea-stars, eight different species of dolphins and whales, and four different species of turtles.
- Nine countries share the shoreline of the Red Sea.

Discussion: What can we do when we are sick or scared to come through that experience? Share about a time you were sick or scared and you prayed to God for healing.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for healing. Help me to remember that you always heal and never harm.

Main Point: Ruth took initiative, spoke up for herself, worked hard, and cared for those in need. For this she was respected by others and rewarded by God.

Discussion:
- When have you acted like Ruth? What was a situation in which you spoke up for yourself or took initiative in another way?
- How could you follow Ruth's example this week? What small action could you take to improve a situation or overcome a challenge you are facing?
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the example of Ruth. May I take initiative, speak up for myself, work hard, and care for those in need as Ruth did.
